1 Imitation Homespun
Woollen fabric made to imitate cloth which is hand-woven from hand-spun yarn. A medium grade of wool is used, fairly long staple, and free from all foreign matter. Woven 2 & 2 twill, 32 ends and 40 picks per inch; weighing about 11-oz. per yard for 68-in. loom state. Cloths up to 15-oz. or 16-oz. are also made. 5 Reza
Coarse, cotton cloth, woven on hand looms in Jeypore, Rajgarh in Ulwar, and Rewari in Delhi, and printed in Beawar, India. Homespun yarn is used, plain weave and low reed and pick. The cloth is very irregular. -
6 Turf Fibre
In 1917 and 1918, owing to the scarcity of textile fibres in Sweden and Holland fairly successful experiments were made to use the fibres extracted from dried turf. The cloth consisted of 75 per cent turf yarn and 25 per cent wool waste yarn, and had the appearance of homespun. -
7 bayeta
(Sp. model spelled same [bajéta], probably from Old French baiette, diminutive of bai 'gray; brown')DARE: 1852. Watts indicates that bayeta refers to a woolen yarn as well as fabric composed of the same produced by the Pueblo Indians. The DRAE describes bayeta as a loosely woven wool cloth or a sort of flannel used to mop floors and other surfaces. Cobos defines it as "woolen homespun." No doubt a few cowpokes were familiar with this fabric.Alternate forms: bay-jeta, vayeta.
